Guidelines

Dedicated Parents and Guardians are an integral part of a youth students Karate Training. Without the parent/guardian’s continuous involvement it would be virtually impossible for the outstanding competitors we see in the Martial Arts World today to ever excel in their sport. For those young Martial Artists who do not compete, their parents also make it possible for them to experience the myriad benefits inherent in Martial Arts Training. At The 2009 Bushido Open, we would like to take the opportunity to celebrate those special unsung heroes who make have done so very much for all of us in the Arts. On behalf of the Sensei’s, Sifu’s, Instructors and Junior Instructors; to all our Dedicated Parent/s & Guardian/s…We thank you, we recognize you and we couldn’t do what we do without you. This is a small toke of our appreciation.

NOMINATIONS – Any Pre-registered Junior competitor at The Bushido Open is eligible to participate in the GCPA contest. Nominations are limited to (2) Parent/s or Guardian/s. (Note 1 parent or Guardian may also be nominated). Note that only 1 award will be presented per family. Written Essay must be neat and legible and must explain why you think your parents should be named. (If you need more space to write your essay, please attach your entry on a separate sheet of paper with your nomination sheet). Please limit entries to (1) hand written or typewritten page only. Entries of more than one page will be eliminated.
WINNER SELECTION – This is a Write-In Contest, and (1) winner will be selected for the most creative, well written or the most inspiring submission received. (GCPA Winners Must Be Present on the Day of the Tournament to receive Award). Winning Essay will be read aloud during halftime ceremony.
PRIZES – Single prizes will be awarded to Father, Mother or Husband and Wife together; the same is true for one or two named individuals as appropriate guardian/s. Prizes will include a special plaque naming the winners as GRAND CHAMPION PARENTS. Additional prizes will include a $100 Gift Certificate for Dinner at a restaurant to be named later; 2 FREE special Seat Cushions for those long tournament days sitting on the bleachers, and FREE Lunch for 2 on the day of the tournament.
NOMINATION CUTOFF DATE – All nominations must be received in writing before June 12, 2011. Entries must be submitted by Pre-registered tournament competitors only! At-The-Door entries will not be allowed.

THIS IS A SPECIAL AWARD AND THE FIRST OF ITS KIND FOR SPORT KARATE. THE BUSHIDO OPEN WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR EFFORTS AND YOUR HEARTFELT SUBMISSIONS. TO YOU PARENTS OUT THERE, WHO HAVE SACRIFICED SO MUCH FOR YOUR CHILDREN….
